Sea turtles are an important part of Bermuda’s marine ecosystem. Here’s how you can help keep them safe:

Respect Their Habitat

  • Protect seagrass beds and coral reefs by never anchoring in these sensitive areas.
  • Keep our oceans clean by removing litter, especially plastic bags, fishing line, and balloons, which can harm or kill sea turtles.

Give Turtles Space

  • Observe sea turtles from a respectful distance while they are swimming, feeding, or resting.
  • Never touch, chase, ride, or disturb turtles.
  • During nesting season, avoid making noise, shining lights, or approaching nesting females and hatchlings.

Report Turtles in Need

If you find a sick, injured, or stranded sea turtle (even if it has passed away), contact the BAMZ Rehabilitation Centre immediately: ☎ 441-293-2727 (Press #999)

Practice Safe Boating

Slow down in turtle habitats and stay alert to help prevent boat strikes.

Watch for Signs of Nesting

Keep an eye out for turtle tracks, eggshells, nests, or hatchlings on Bermuda’s beaches. Report any sightings to the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo (441) 293-2727.
